  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The Galenic Pharmacy curricular unit introduces the concept of medicine and the most used pharmaceutical forms, as well as the physicochemical processes associated with the preparation of manipulated medicines.
  • ProgramaProgramme
o Introduction to the drug: o Classification of pharmaceutical forms; o Routes of administration; o Legal framework for manipulated drugs; o Good practices to be observed in the preparation of compounded medicines. o Solid dosage forms: o Liquid dosage forms; o Dispersed Systems: o Semi-solid dosage forms: o Packaging and packaging material. the Laboratory: o Equipment and general safety and operating rules; o Magisterial and official forms; o Good practices in the preparation of compounded items in the workshop pharmacy; o Consultation of Pharmacopoeias and the National Galenic Form; o Handling of solid dosage forms: Powders; o Handling of liquid dosage forms: alcohol dilution, preparation of common syrup, vehicles for oral liquid formulations; o Handling of dispersed systems: Emulsions (calculation of EHL), Suspensions; o Handling of semi-solid systems: preparation of ointments, creams and gels; o Preparation of suppositories.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
In this course, the student will learn about the terminology and bibliographic sources used in pharmaceutical technology, providing an overview of the formulation, preparation, dispensing and use of manipulated medicines. The practical component will provide students with the first contact with the process of preparing masterful and officinal pharmaceutical forms.
