  • ApresentaçãoPresentation

Currently, automation and industrial electronics are undergoing a growing development in which the Internet is increasingly indispensable for the distribution of information, being free of time constraints and capable of transmitting numerical and graphical information on any platform. In an automation network, as the number of components increases, management and diagnostic problems become increasingly challenging for automation and information technology professionals. This evolution has led to the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), which can be defined as the intelligent connectivity (communication networks and protocols) of intelligent equipment (physical and virtual objects, information and interfaces). The growth of the IoT combined with the consequent reconfiguration and evolution of industry means that the fourth industrial revolution - Industry 4.0 - is probably very close to becoming a reality. It could be said that Industry 4.0 is the introduction of Internet technologies into industry, and the IoT is the motivation and the path to a fourth phase in the evolution of industry. In this sense, and taking into account the development and evolution of new technologies, the TeSP in Systems Development for the Internet of Things, at the Instituto Politécnico da Lusofonia, aims to respond to the needs of the market and employers, recognizing the importance of ensuring the existence of qualified technicians in the area of new technologies, able to develop automated and intelligent data processes and coordinated use of devices in the most diverse areas of activity.
  • Condições de IngressoAccess Conditions

    - Holders of the 12th grade or legally equivalent qualification; - Holders of professional courses; - Holders of CETs, CTeSPs or higher education degrees; - Over 23s - those who have passed the tests specially designed to assess their ability to attend higher education.
  • ObjectivosObjectives

Train professional technicians who are able to plan, program, install, configure and manage electronic systems, computer systems, equipment and other hardware devices for the Internet of Things and automated systems that communicate with the cloud and network communication, complying with safety standards and regulations.
  • CompetênciasCompetences

    - Designing, programming and operating equipment and systems for the Internet of Things; - Design, implement and manage structures and equipment with electrical and electronic devices and microcontrollers; - Design and implement the installation of Internet of Things equipment and systems; - Design and test prototypes to assess the reliability of the equipment/system and its ability to be manufactured/installed, taking into account technical and economic aspects; - Develop applications residing on computers and cell phones to acquire and collect data in an Internet of Things environment; - Configure, install and manage data communication networks and networks for the Internet of Things; - Programming, testing and correcting errors in computer programs and systems, particularly in microcontrollers and devices in an Internet of Things environment; - Plan and manage the maintenance of Internet of Things equipment and systems; - Drawing up technical reports on the work carried out and completing technical documentation; - Providing training to other company employees, namely equipment users, electronics technicians and maintenance technicians.
  • Saídas ProfissionaisCareer Opportunities

Graduates will be able to work in companies and services in: (i) the development of platforms that integrate hardware (physical components) and software (systems and operating systems), so that the different devices communicate with each other using the same language standard; (ii) the development of applications that control electronic equipment remotely via smartphones and tablets and (iii) the development of systems to protect devices connected to the Internet. And also in industrial automation and maintenance companies, process engineering, management and industrial maintenance.
