      The aim of this course is to situate the fundamental issue of children to be protected and to assess situations of maltreatment in multiple contexts. From the history of child protection in Portugal and around the world, to the different types and statistics of maltreatment, through the legal framework and institutional arrangements, to screening and referral strategies, the aim is to provide knowledge and skills to enable informed and objective screening of the risks of maltreatment, or even maltreatment itself.
