    .This UC intends to interconnect different but convergent areas of study, such as Portuguese Language and Language Development, worked on in previous years and Portuguese Language Didactics, available in the 3rd year. It is intended, therefore, that students acquire skills that meet the training profile necessary for the exercise of their future professional activity, encouraging research and raising awareness of the contribution that different knowledge makes possible in the teaching and learning process.

      From Literacy to (Multi)Literacy(ies) - evolution of concepts. Literacy(ies) and family and school context. Language, Language Knowledge and Language Use. Language status and functions. Emergent Literacy development in Pre-school: from the functionality of written language to the emergence of Writing and Reading. Reading in the 1st CEB: o Concept of Reading.  Different types of reading. The teaching of strategies for understanding texts. Reading as an interactive process. Development of plurilingual and multicultural competence through Reading.  Writing in the 1st CEB: Reading and Writing: articulation and interaction. The writing process and its different components. construction of texts of different discursive genres and in different media.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    - To acquire knowledge about the evolution of the concept of (multi)literacy, as a multimodal competence, considering its evolution over time. - To identify how literacy development occurs in family and school contexts. - To identify the primary and secondary uses of language and related sociolinguistic aspects - Know and analyse ways of promoting emergent literacy and the development of language competence: oral and written. - Know and reflect about the progression of the development of Reading and Writing and the interactions between both, at the 1st cycle level. - Read, analyse, and construct activities for the development of Literacy, based on texts by CPLP authors.
