Clinical Biochemistry II

Biomedical Laboratory Sciences
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The aim of the Clinical Biochemistry II course is to further develop knowledge about the biochemical foundations of the most basic and frequent pathology, as well as the attitudes and gestures already acquired in Clinical Biochemistry I. The student must understand the analytical methods for its application. , utility and execution, in order to be able to give adequate answers to other health professionals. Through practical cases will be developed the capacity for reasoning, interpretation and interventionist spirit in the face of new situations related to the subjects taught.

  • ObjectivosObjectives
    - Explain the biochemical foundations of the most basic and common condition. - Identify where and how to get organic products necessary for determining each biochemical parameter. - Gaining and maintaining the product under the conditions required by the applications. - Know the analytical methods that can be applied in quantitative and / or qualitative determination of a metabolite. - Know and apply the biochemical mechanisms necessary for the interpretation of clinical results. - Understand the implications of analytical and not analytical errors. - Understand the principles of quality control in clinical laboratories. - Search and critically interpret scientific literature.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
In practical classes, the student has prior access to the experimental protocols to be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. These protocols are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation and, subsequently, the discussion of procedures and results.
