• ProgramaProgramme

  Graphic & manual printing techniques: - Direct stamping and stamps; - Relief techniques, linocut and collagraphy; - Sgraffito and monotype; - Transfer processes; - Stencil & silkscreen. Graphic techniques & independent publishing: - Graphic creation and its principles: analog processual and technological methods and their relationship with digital (versatility and hybridization); - The printed object and the book as an object. Artistic production linked to reproducibility (self-publishing and experimental publication); - Relationships between form & content, idea and expression in illustration and comics; - Workshops, spaces, and events for the dissemination and circulation of printed art. Graphic production and publishing: - The book as an object of experimentation; - From manual bookbinding to unconventional formats; - Creative tools for resolving a publishing project; - Manual printing techniques in the production of independent editorial projects; - Mockup, printing, and finishing.
• ObjectivosObjectives

  This course aims to explore and develop analogue printing techniques particularly aimed at illustration and comics projects. Develops experiences related to engraving, printing, screen printing and other non-toxic techniques, directed and/or framed in author's editorial projects: fanzines and out-of-format books. Its objective is to: - Deepen the history of manual and digital printing techniques, as well as their specific terminology; - Provide direct contact with printing processes in graphic works through composition, color and multilayer exercises; - Stimulate the creative process through research into materials and different supports; - Encourage reflection on the applicability of the technique, the process, the instruments and supports in the relationship between the matrix and the multiple in the context of editing; - Develop editorial projects in the fields of comics and the illustrated book/zine with space for non-conventional formats.

• MetodologiaMethodology

  The teaching methodology is based on theoretical and practical classes in a workshop environment, combining theory, visual experimentation, research and creativity. Each assignment begins with a theoretical approach, followed by demonstrations of procedures and techniques and teacher support, with tutorial guidance emphasised during project development. Progressive student autonomy is encouraged, considering prior knowledge and different levels of experience. Manual printing, stamping, engraving, multilayer printing and artist's publishing are explored, relating graphic and research intentions to reproduction and publication. Bookbinding, formats, supports, matrices, mock-ups, printing and print runs are addressed. Innovative approaches and authorial projects are encouraged. Assessment focuses on technical quality and the ability to develop appropriate project strategies. Moodle provides materials and facilitates communication outside class.
