  This course will equip students with essential knowledge for understanding cinema through its history, as well as the history of television and video. It is impossible to make films without knowing their history, without understanding the evolution of cinematic thought and technique. And the history of cinema also includes the history of television, both in its origins and, above all, at the turn of the 20th to the 21st century. A journey that begins with the rudimentary technologies of pre-cinema, reaches maturity with silent film and then sound film, color film, classical cinema, which is later renewed with modern cinema.

  No Sound Cinema: from archaic representation to the formation of industry. Griffith and the consolidation of film / narrative language. The vanguards of the 1920s. THE SOUND CINEMA. Hollywood: studio system. Modern cinema: Italian neorealism, nouvelle vague, new cinema. Asian cinema. Contemporary cinema: alternatives to Hollywood and the film industry. THE DIGITAL CINEMA. From the crisis of classic narrative to visual effects. Viewing and analysis of features and short films. Performing film analysis exercises in the classroom. Analysis and decoding of the elements of a narrative. Semiotic analyzes and narrative structures.

  Provide the student with a set of knowledge of History and language of cinema that enables him to identify and analyze aesthetics, production styles, as well as the use of different cinematographic languages ¿¿in order to build a body of historical and practical knowledge indispensable to the progression of your learning. Reinforce the student's taste in seeing, understanding, analyzing and contextualizing all the richness and diversity of the cinematographic language.
