ApresentaçãoPresentationThe Pharmaceutical Practice course will focus on the practical foundations of professional practice in the context of hospital and community pharmacy. Concepts about the different practices and valences of the hospital pharmacy will be transmitted to the students, approaching the computerized and automated systems for the distribution of medicines. In terms of community pharmacy, communication with the user, counseling and follow-up will be appreciated. The concepts of hygiene and safety applied to the professional practice in pharmacy will also be transmitted, as well as the proper treatment of hospital waste. Through practical classes, the student will develop knowledge about different types of practice in pharmacy, by solving practical cases and presenting research, will develop their ability to analyze, interpret, solve problems and provide advice in a pharmacy context.

ProgramaProgrammeThe drug circuit in hospital setting. Drug distribution systems in hospital pharmacy. Computerized systems and semi-automated for the drug circuit. Pharmacotechnics: Sterile drug preparations (intravenous nutritional mixture, cytotoxic drugs and other) Non-sterile drug preparations, repackaging. Facilities requirements, manipulation techniques and records. Community pharmacy in Portugal. Service to the public. Counseling in community pharmacy. Monitoring chronical patients in community pharmacy. Health and safety. Hospital / laboratory waste.

ObjectivosObjectives• Understand the concepts, principles and theories of general practice in hospital and community pharmacy. • Know the different forms of practice and how to apply them in different contexts presented in order to solve the problems presented. • Acquire critical thinking in real situations to practice pharmacy. • Apply theoretical knowledge and develop pharmaceutical practice, in order to gain skills for learning stage in pharmacy. • Analyze and interpret therapeutic prescriptions and apply the drug delivery system suitable for each context in order to promote quality in the drug circuit. • Promoting good practice in the production of the drug, sterile and non-sterile. • Use routine equipment pharmacy, safely, and to promote the collective protection. • Organize and manage effectively, the time and resources available within its activity.
