Physiology

Veterinary Nursing
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
Physiology is a subject given to understand the function of the various organic systems and the way molecular structure is expressed in these systems. The motor and behavioral responses in each individual result from their harmonious physiological functioning.
  • ProgramaProgramme
Endocrinology: Endocrine central control, endocrine glands and their functions. Digestive System: Regulation of gastrointestinal functions, movements and secretions, fermentation and non-fermentation processes, utilization of nutrients after-absorption; Cardiovascular System : Cardiac electrical activity, electrocardiogram, blood circulation, local control of blood flow, neural and hormonal control of blood pressure and blood volume; Respiratory system : Lung ventilation, vascularization, gas exchange and transport of gases, non-respiratory functions; Urogenital system; Neurologic system; Muscle contraction; Homeostasis - Acid-base balance and thermoregulation.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    1. Know the function and regulation of the different organ systems; 2. Understand the physiologic function of each system and how they interplay in the body as a whole; 3. Know the physiologic profiles in the different veterinary species; 4. Distinguish between physiologic and pathologic profiles in the different veterinary species. 5. Develop the understanding of the disease pathophysiology.
