The syllabus includes a characterization of our health system, epidemiology, how individuals' socioeconomics influence health services, global health, disease prevention and awareness of the population at risk. This curricular unit explores the ways in which acupunctors relate and are affected by the public health system in Portugal and Europe.

ObjectivosObjectivesAddressing the relevant contents of the descriptive epidemiology and analytical epidemiology. Describe the importance of epidemiology in making health management decisions. Encourage students to incorporate epidemiological methodology in professional reasoning. Mastering the main concepts of epidemiology, public health and ecology, taking into account the profile of these health professionals. Draw up an epidemiological investigation protocol. Organize alternative strategies for the control, prevention and epidemiological surveillance of public health issues. Incorporate in their workplace tools available in epidemiology. Teaching and research in health care and interpret the epidemiology of diseases.
