    The general objective of this course is to introduce and develop specific writing techniques for visual narratives (comics and illustrated books) and pre-visualization of these narratives through storyboards/thumbnails. Sequential visual narratives are considered here through relevant pre-production processes that apply to both artistic and commercial projects across various narrative genres.

    SCRIPT WRITING AND PRODUCTION - Develop logline, outline, and synopsis; - Introduction to the vocabulary of comic art for script writing; - Understanding conflict, plot, structure, exposition, and subtext; - Basics of writing a scene (character creation, settings, and dialogue); - Script production within a specific narrative genre. STORYBOARDING/THUMBNAILING - Understanding formats for print and screen; - Understanding layout, framing, depth of field, point of view, visual continuity, the 180-degree rule, speech balloons and captions, onomatopoeia, kinetic signs, emanata (signs), character design; - Production of storyboard/thumbnails for sequential visual narrative.

    The general objective of this course is to introduce and develop specific writing techniques for visual narratives (comics and illustrated books) and pre-visualization of these narratives through storyboards/thumbnails. Sequential visual narratives are considered here through relevant pre-production processes that apply to both artistic and commercial projects across various narrative genres. The specific objectives are: - Understand the different text formats used in the pre-production of visual narratives (logline, outline, synopsis/treatment, script); - Introduce the technical principles of story writing through the script format; - Understand the specific principles of visual storytelling for effective communication through text; - Introduce the concept and practice of thumbnailing and storyboarding; - Understand the specific vocabulary of illustrated albums and comics for application in visual storytelling exercises/projects.
