    The territory is the starting point and origin of a certain community and the culture it has developed over time. If, at the base, we start from the existing natural heritage, it is with the intervention of the human being that new cultural landscapes are created, modifying the territory giving rise to new attitudes and behaviours, thus creating unique identity marks in the different territories and their populations.

    Concepts of territory, heritage and local communities. The material, immaterial and natural heritage. The cultural heritage and its importance for the development of territories, especially those with low population density. Gentrification, turism, territorialisation, deterritorialisation and reterritorialisation. Sustainable development of the territory and its communities. The 17 objectives of the UN | OMT for a Sustainable Development.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    At the end of the semester, students should interpret the various aspects of heritage present in the territories preferably in activities related to tourism in general and cultural and natural tourism in particular. Enunciate and define the different types of Heritage. Identify and relate the characteristics of the territory with the existing heritage. To frame tourism activities in their connection with local communities and with the issues of deterritorialization of territories and reterritorialization by new communities. Students should also develop critical thinking regarding the issues of gentrification of urban territories and the impact on local communities.
