IV International Congress 2025 | The Construction of Full Citizenship in the Context of Current Issues and the Impacts of Crises in Different Spheres

The Congress aims to promote a broad reflection on the issues of Humanism, Human Rights, and Citizenship, focusing on the challenges, opportunities, and threats of the present time, and on the construction of full citizenship within the context of current problems and the impacts of crises across different spheres.

The event takes place every two years under the aegis of Universidade Lusófona – University Centre of Lisbon. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Congresses were held in 2019, 2021, and 2023, respectively.

The Congress addresses various aspects of Citizenship and Humanism across a wide range of thematic and scientific areas, such as citizenship, citizen science, political science, culture, sustainable development, sport, citizenship education, gender equality, social and community intervention, health, social work, the knowledge society, and religion.

Through the studies and research carried out by participants, the discussion and reflection on these topics offer an opportunity to produce, share, and exchange scientific knowledge within round tables and communication sessions.

The Congress is aimed at critically aware citizens, academics, researchers, educators, social practitioners, lecturers and students, managers, and school directors, encompassing all levels of the formal education system and informal learning contexts, as well as various areas of social intervention. Thus, the event is open to all those interested in contributing with their ideas, reflections, concerns, studies, and proposals to help rethink a world marked by uncertainty.

Participation in the Congress may take two forms: with or without the presentation of a paper, both granting the right to a certificate of participation and presentation of work. The papers presented in the parallel sessions will be published in an e-book.
