Thesis by Raquel Ramos, IPLUSO lecturer, receives honourable mention at early childhood education ceremony
The award ceremony for the 2nd edition of the Ana Maria Vieira de Almeida Prize took place on 2 June 2025, with the work “Articulation of Educational Practices in Outdoor, Nature and Indoor Contexts in Early Childhood Education: Innovate and Train” by IPLUSO lecturer Raquel Ramos being recognised with an honourable mention.
This prize was awarded to her doctoral thesis, defended on 15 January of the current year, which investigates the articulation between educational practices in nature-based and kindergarten contexts, specifically through the Casa da Mata Programme and a kindergarten, analysing the potentials and limitations of this articulation as well as its contributions from the perspectives of the researcher, teachers and children.
This biennial prize, an initiative of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, aims to celebrate the memory of Ana Maria Vieira de Almeida by recognising works and scientific research that promote innovative models in Early Childhood, Pre-Primary and Primary Education.

- Ana Maria Bettencourt (Advisor to the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic for Education (1996-2006) and President of the National Education Council (2009-2013))
- Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins (Former Minister of Education, Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation)
- Isabel Alçada (Former Minister of Education, Consultant to the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic for Education)
- Maria Emília Brederode Santos (President of the Educational Innovation Institute of the Ministry of Education (1997-2002) and President of the National Education Council (2017-2022))
