21 de março de 2025

The VIRIATUS Platform, created by lecturers from ESCAD, stands out for its innovation and support for the cybersecurity of SMEs in the Portugal Digital Awards 2024
The Instituto Politécnico da Lusofonia (IPLUSO) congratulates lecturers David Russo and Sérgio Silva from the Escola Superior de Ciências da Administração (ESCAD) for their distinction at the Portugal Digital Awards 2024. The two professors, as founders of the Portuguese company CyberS3c, were awarded in the Best Digital Startup Project category for developing the VIRIATUS platform, a cutting-edge technological solution that is revolutionising the cybersecurity of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Portugal.
This recognition is a source of pride for IPLuso, highlighting the connection between higher education and the development of innovative solutions that meet the real needs of the national business fabric. The distinction reinforces ESCAD's mission to train highly skilled professionals ready to lead digital transformation and address the challenges of contemporary society.
The VIRIATUS platform, entirely designed and developed by Portuguese engineering, combines artificial intelligence, automation, and a strong commitment to digital sovereignty. It is a solution that allows organisations to monitor their attack surface in real time, automate responses to incidents, and anticipate vulnerabilities before they are exploited. At a time when SMEs face limited resources, a shortage of specialised teams, and growing regulatory pressure, VIRIATUS positions itself as a strategic ally, adapted to the needs of the market.
In addition to its technological aspect, VIRIATUS ensures digital sovereignty through the exclusive processing and storage of data within Portuguese territory, fully complying with European data protection regulations and enhancing the security of critical infrastructures. The platform also allows for simple integration with technologies from various manufacturers, eliminating the need for additional investments and ensuring flexibility and efficiency in responding to cyber threats.
IPLuso praises this award as proof of the impact of the work developed by its lecturers, who, in addition to excellence in teaching, actively contribute to national innovation, putting academic knowledge at the service of society. With this distinction, ESCAD and the Instituto Politécnico da Lusofonia reinforce their commitment to quality education, support for innovation, and the sustainable development of Portuguese companies.
