ERISA establishes an international partnership in Traditional Chinese Medicine to strengthen research, education and scientific innovation in Europe.
ERISA - Ribeiro Sanches School of Health has formalised a cooperation agreement with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (GMTCM Park), one of the leading scientific and industrial platforms dedicated to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
With thousands of years of development, TCM includes practices such as herbal medicine, acupuncture and dietetics, and is currently the subject of growing scientific research focused on therapeutic validation, safety and product quality.
The GMTCM Park brings together research, technological development and production, promoting collaboration between universities, research centres and companies in accordance with international standards, including European requirements.
The agreement will enable ERISA to participate in research projects, join international networks and deepen scientific development in the field of TCM, strengthening its academic and scientific credibility in Europe.
The partnership is part of ERISA’s application for accreditation of a Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and aligns with the institution’s internationalisation strategy.
At the same time, IPLUSO signed protocols with three Chinese universities — in Macau, Chengdu and with the Macau University of Science and Technology — to support the creation of a development hub for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The protocols were signed in Lisbon by administrators Manuel de Almeida Damásio and Maria da Conceição Soeiro during a ceremony integrated into the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to Chinese administration, presided over by Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
By establishing this connection with one of the leading international hubs for Traditional Chinese Medicine, ERISA positions itself as a relevant interlocutor between Europe and China, contributing to the recognition of ancient knowledge through contemporary scientific approaches and to its integration into highly demanding academic and professional contexts.
