Session addressed responsible practices, academic integrity, and ethical challenges in students’ use of AI
The webinar “Generative AI and Higher Education Students: Practices and Ethical Considerations” took place on March 6, 2026, between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, in a hybrid format, with in-person participation in Room 0.5 of Alvaláxia and online streaming.
The initiative was promoted by IPLUSO and brought together participants interested in reflecting on the impact of generative artificial intelligence in the academic context.
Throughout the session, responsible ways of using AI in higher education were discussed, including the importance of transparency in acknowledging the support of AI tools, safeguarding academic integrity and authorship, as well as issues related to data protection and privacy.
The debate also addressed the need to mitigate biases, verify sources, and ensure the quality of information generated by AI systems. Institutional strategies aimed at guiding good practices and promoting a conscious use of these technologies in the university environment were also presented.
