‘Lusíadas Forever": Camões Comes to Life in Contemporary Literature and Art

IPLUSO and ULusófona celebrate the legacy of Luís Vaz de Camões with the launch of an illustrated book and an interdisciplinary approach

The official launch of the book "Lusíadas Forever" took place on 15 January 2025 at 6pm in Auditorium Q.2.4 of Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa. This event marked the debut of the cultural and educational project of the same name, an initiative that celebrates the work of Luís de Camões through an innovative and interdisciplinary approach.

The ceremony was attended by academics, artists and students, including Paulo Mendes Pinto (Lusófona University), Maria Neves, Marco Fraga da Silva and Margarida Prieto (IPLUSO) and José Augusto Bernardes (Commissioner for the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of Camões).

The book, which reinvents the work of Camões, seeks to establish a dialogue between the writer's literary tradition and contemporary visual art. This project not only highlighted Camões' timeless relevance, but also invited the audience to rediscover his work from new creative perspectives.
