The scientific article entitled "Real-Time IoT Monitoring of Urban Waste Using Time-of-Flight Technology" was recently published in the journal *Sensors* (MDPI).
This work, developed by lecturer Luis Pires and students João Figueiredo and Ricardo Martins from the Bachelor's Degree in Automation and Information Systems at IPLuso, presents an innovative solution for efficiently monitoring the fill levels of urban waste containers.
Using ToF sensors and IoT technology, the system enables real-time data collection, optimising waste management in cities. The project stands out for the active involvement of students, reinforcing the connection between teaching, applied research, and the challenges of Smart Cities.
