IPLUSO students create a digital Flipbook highlighting Tourism with Purpose
Five students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Business Management at IPLUSO embarked on a true journey through time — and now invite the entire academic community to join them. Therezinha, Cleynita, Francesco, Dádiva, and Beatriz were challenged, within the curricular unit Event Management and Production, taught by Professor Doctor Bonifácio Rodrigues, to develop an original project with territorial impact. The result? An interactive digital flipbook titled "Marvila – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow".
This project delves into the history, the present, and the future possibilities of the parish of Marvila — the territory that hosts one of IPLUSO's campuses and which many students have already called home throughout their academic experience.
More than just an academic exercise, this project is a celebration of local heritage and an invitation to reflect on the tourist and cultural potential of the area. “It was an opportunity to connect more deeply with the space where we study, to understand its rich past, its current challenges, and to imagine what it could become,” the students involved stated.
This is yet another example of how higher education can — and should — get closer to the communities it is part of, giving voice to students and strengthening the link between academic knowledge and local reality.
