Robotics, arts and geometry as tools to transform and enhance Mathematics learning
Professor Ana António, director of the Master’s Degree in Teaching the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, has developed an innovative project at IPLUSO focused on fostering enjoyment in learning Mathematics through the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach.
Integrating undergraduate and master’s students in an action-research context, the lecturer proposes a profound transformation of pedagogical practices, emphasising creativity, collaboration and collective awareness. The project combines educational robotics (Tale-Bot), Excel, geometry activities and artistic expression, with a clear impact on the motivation of future teachers.
This work reflects IPLUSO’s commitment to active pedagogical methodologies, excellent teacher training and educational innovation with social relevance. The research is currently undergoing internal ethical review and demonstrates the institution’s dedication to generating knowledge that is both relevant and internationally applicable.
