IPLUSO professor publishes study on cryptocurrencies in the Journal of Ecohumanism
The April 2025 issue of the Journal of Ecohumanism (Vol. 4, No. 4), a scientific journal indexed in SCOPUS, includes the article “Efficiency of Traditional and Green Cryptocurrencies: A Comparative Analysis”. One of the authors of the study is Professor Rui Dias, researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Lusophony (IPLUSO).
The research analysed the market efficiency of various cryptocurrencies, distinguishing between conventional digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and green coins such as Cardano, Stellar and IOTA. The analysis period covered data from January 2018 to November 2023.
The results show that certain cryptocurrencies display persistent behaviours with long memory, favouring long-term investment strategies, while others exhibit anti-persistent characteristics, suitable for short-term strategies.
This work stands out for its relevance in the current context of digital transformation and financial sustainability, and confirms IPLUSO’s active contribution to research applied to emerging financial systems.
