3 de março de 2025

The first edition of the competition highlighted talent, creativity, and social impact in engineering and technology.

On February 19, 2025, the School of Engineering and Technology at IPLUSO hosted the 1st Edition of the TechVenture Challenge EET, an innovation and prototyping competition that encouraged creativity and entrepreneurship among students. The event, which took place between 14:00 and 17:00, provided a space for students to present innovative and applicable solutions to real-world challenges, reinforcing the polytechnic education's focus on practical, market-oriented training.

The competition featured projects with high technical standards and social impact, evaluated by a panel of specialised judges. After an intense process of presentation and debate, the winning teams were announced:

1st Place – Alertify

Team: Guilherme Louro, Miguel Lobato, and Rafael Gumão (Web and Mobile Device Development, 2nd year)
Idea: A personal security app for vulnerable situations, such as night outings. Inspired by accounts from women close to the creators, the app was designed to increase the feeling of safety and provide immediate assistance in case of emergency.

2nd Place – OptiPy

Team: Ângelo, João, and Ricardo (Automation and Computer Systems, 1st year)
Idea: A Python program that estimates facial measurements from an image, generating a visual simulation of glasses on the user. The solution proposes a new approach to customisation and online shopping for optical accessories.

3rd Place – Nomadify

Team: Rodrigo Barradinhas and Renato Ventura (Computer Engineering and Applications)
Idea: An integrated platform for group travel planning, featuring collaborative itinerary creation, expense management, and smartwatch notifications, facilitating organisation and communication among travellers.

Honourable Mention – Ciber Space

Team: Braulio Zua
Idea: A project focused on digital inclusion in Angola, promoting access to refurbished equipment, IT services, training courses, and technical support for low-income communities.

The TechVenture Challenge EET reaffirmed the EET’s commitment to innovation and the development of impactful technological solutions. The winning teams will now have access to opportunities for international mobility and specialised consultancy, enabling the evolution of their projects and deepening their entrepreneurial potential.

The event organisers thank all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and the contribution of the jury, hoping that this will be the first of many successful editions of this initiative!
