ULusófona Lecturers Participate in Higher Education Congress in Portugal

Participation highlighted the social commitment of institutions and promoted critical reflection on the current model

The Prof. Doutor Paulo Sargento, lecturer at the Faculty of Law and associate researcher at CEAD – Francisco Suárez, and the Prof. Doutor José Carlos Calazans, lecturer at the School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Technologies and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Education and Administration, as well as researcher at LusoGlobe – Research Centre in Politics, Economics and Society, participated as invited speakers in the congress “Education, Training and Teaching in the Construction of a Nation: What Portugal Do We Want?”, held on 10 March in Lisbon.

The lecturers contributed to the panel titled “Higher Education – Social Commitment and Critique of the Current Model”, where they promoted critical reflection on the challenges and responsibilities of higher education in contemporary society.

The congress also featured speakers from various universities and polytechnic institutes, both public and private, as well as a Member of Parliament, a representative of the armed forces, and the CEO of a news agency.

The initiative provided a valuable space for reflection and debate on the crucial role of education and training in building a more just, prepared, and sustainable society.
