Social Action, Scholarships, and Funding
Extraordinary support for higher education/scholarship students from the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES)
As part of the social support measures of the Economic and Social Stabilisation Programme (PEES), approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 41/2020, of June 6, which establishes a set of appropriate measures for the period following the state of emergency and the calamity situation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must inform our scholarship students of the extraordinary support in higher education (article 6).
School Social Action Benefits
The purpose of the Social Action Regulations is to define the rules for granting educational benefits to students enrolled at IPLUSO. Educational benefits are understood to be a reduction in the annual tuition fees, offered to students, family members of students and employees of the ‘Lusófona Group’, former students enrolled in doctoral courses, students from non-higher education establishments belonging to the Lusófona Group, among others.
Students have 7 working days from the date of enrolment to apply for educational benefits.

Caixa IU Card | Special Financing Conditions
The CGD card is for all students.
Over the years, Caixa has established protocols with Higher Education Institutions, through which it grants financial benefits to the entire academic population and is responsible for issuing ID cards, following the respective request from students and confirmation of enrolment by the School itself.
IPLUSO has a protocol with Caixa, which offers you two options:
Option 1: Simple ID card;
Option 2*: ID card associated with a Caixa bank account with various associated advantages.* It is not compulsory to open an account or use an ATM card.

The European Funding Guide works through an algorithm that presents only the scholarships, funding and awards that really match each student's individual profile.
The 12,000 support programmes available cover a wide range of areas for which university students can apply for (financial) support - from daily expenses, tuition fees and internships to extra costs for semesters abroad, language courses and costs associated with scientific projects.

Scholarships are available for the best secondary school students enrolling at IPLUSO, as well as for our best undergraduate students and the most economically deprived students, through the scholarships awarded by DGES.

Excellence Scholarship
At IPLUSO we reward our best students who come from secondary school and enrol in a degree programme, but also the best undergraduate students who enrol in a master's programme at one of the Lusófona Group institutions.
If you have an average above 16, your 1st year tuition fee at IPLUSO can be zero. Check out the regulations and apply for our Excellence Scholarship.

Scholarships for Students from CPLP Countries - Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries
The educational benefits offered to students with nationality from CPLP countries are part of the University administration's project to support the countries of the Lusophone Community in training senior staff in order to contribute to their development.
Scholarships (Tuition Fee Waiver) CPLP / Lusófona Group
- 1st phase: from 12th July to 13th August
- 2nd phase: from 16th August to 29th October
DGES Scholarships
The deadlines for applications for DGES Scholarships for 2023/24 are now open. See the information here.
- Applications are open between 25 June and 30 September;
- Within 20 working days of enrolment, if this occurs after 30 September;
- In the 20 working days following the issue of proof of the start of the internship by the organisation providing it, in the case of bachelors or masters who are undertaking a professional internship.
IPLUSO - Instituto Politécnico da Lusófonia offers its students the chance to apply for scholarships from the Directorate-General for Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Science). These scholarships are aimed at economically deprived students, whereby the economic situation of the student's household is analysed, within the scope of the Order that regulates the process of awarding scholarships to higher education students.

The awarding of merit scholarships by the DGES, awarded annually to higher education students who show a good record of achievement, is the responsibility of the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) for 2021/22. - Discount Protocols
The Escola Superior de Saúde Ribeiro Sanches has continued its policy of granting discounts to students enrolled at the school who are members of trade union, professional or cultural associations with which it has signed collaboration agreements.
Students have 7 working days from the date of enrolment to request educational benefits under protocols.
- PBS - Health Benefits Plan
Consultations and health interventions at reduced prices. Your health plan - the same benefit as insurance... but at no cost.
TheHealth Benefits Plan (PBS) gives its beneficiaries access to medical consultations, examinations and treatments at favourable prices.
The PBS is the result of a partnership with Clínica São João de Deus and is not health insurance; membership is free and access to health services does not require the payment of any monthly fees. This plan directly covers all students, former students, teachers and other employees of the Lusófona Group. The benefits are extended to family members (parents, children, spouses and siblings) of the direct beneficiaries, provided they expressly indicate this.

- School Personal Accident Insurance
In accordance with Order 185/MEC/86, SESC has School Personal Accident Insurance for all students. The cost of the insurance is paid at the time of enrolment and is valid for the school year in which the student is enrolled. Only students who are duly enrolled are covered by the insurance.

In the event of an accident, you should go to a clinical provider (in Lisbon: Centro Clínico de Lisboa do SBSI/SAMS, Rua Fialho de Almeida, n.º 21, 1070-128 Lisboa Tel.: 213 811 800) belonging to the insurance company's network and present the insurance policy number. It is the student's responsibility to report the claim within 3 days to the school office, attaching all the documents relating to the claim.
PLEASE NOTE: the original documents must be handed in.
All school activities carried out by students are insured:
- On SESC premises during school or working hours, free time included in the respective school timetable and events of a school, non-school, sporting or social nature organised or authorised by SESC;

Outside the school premises: on excursions, outdoor lessons, practical lessons, internships linked to the school activity (curricular), study visits in Portugal and other circum-school, sporting or socialising initiatives, provided they are promoted by the school or with its co-funding;
- Also included in the scope of school activity are accidents that occur during the normal and direct journey to or from home and school or the places mentioned in the previous paragraph, excluding the student's stay anywhere along the way.
Exclusions: in addition to those described in the Policy Conditions, we would like to point out that accidents involving 2-wheeled vehicles are not covered; accidents due to the actions of the insured person in a state of drunkenness or the use of psychotropic drugs, narcotics, hallucinogens and the like not prescribed by a doctor; accidents related to hernias, whatever their nature.
