Expressive Practices Workshop: artistic education and physical education

  This course unit aims to equip students with the knowledge, techniques, materials, and best methodologies for creating, conducting, and implementing activities involving artistic expression (visual arts, music, and drama) and physical-motor expression. We approach these forms of expression holistically, situating their importance within the child's overall development, whether in a nursery or kindergarten setting. Students will learn to plan, create games, perform, dramatize, write texts, and dance, while also exploring the importance of movement-all tailored to the specific age group with which they are working. To this end, they will be encouraged to research, create, investigate, and produce materials and activities that combine educational value with play, fostering active, integrated learning across the various forms of expression and areas of knowledge.
• ProgramaProgramme

  1)  Didactics of expressive activities: presentation of various pedagogical models, material production techniques, planning of artistic and physical-motor activities, monitoring of pedagogical practices, and assessment.   2)  Educational experiences involving expressive activities, tailored to children aged 0-3 and 3-6: Art Education: familiarity with instruments, methodologies, and techniques; communication; expressive self-expression; representation and understanding of the world; activities involving visual arts, music, dance, and dramatic/theatrical play. Physical-Motor Education: development of motor skills; body awareness; how motor expression fosters relationships with others, spaces, and materials. 3)  Educational strategies for expressive activities in nursery and kindergarten settings. 4)  Integrated and holistic approach to the content areas of the Preschool Education Curriculum Guidelines. 5)  Research and adaptation of projects for diverse educational contexts.
• ObjectivosObjectives

  Identify and understand the expressions as an instrument for developing transversal competences in children. Know and mobilise the main pedagogical guidelines for intervention in the field of expressions (plastic, physical-motor, musical, dramatic). Understand the importance of expressions for the development of physical exercise and aesthetic sensitivity. Be able to plan expressive practices integrated into the field of early childhood education. Be able to plan and build games, theatres, teaching resources and activities within the scope of Artistic Expressions, aimed at the various age groups of children. Be able to integrate the different expressions into the curriculum in a nursery and kindergarten context.

• MetodologiaMethodology

  In this course unit, Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-a student-centered educational methodology-is recognized for its importance in knowledge construction. Conceptual, procedural, behavioral, and research-related issues are addressed, enabling students to integrate these various dimensions in their work. Theory-practice classes cover technical and theoretical concepts and involve gathering materials to support the creation of expressive activities. Visits to museums and theaters, as well as outdoor activities, are proposed. Through debate and active learning pedagogies, students are challenged to develop intervention projects that incorporate the technical and theoretical concepts studied in the course and are suitable for implementation in daycares and kindergartens. Specialists in the relevant fields will be invited to foster dialogue and debate, thereby enriching the educational experience from both conceptual and practical perspectives.
