The purpose of forensic anthropology aims to identify corpses belonging to skeletonized individuals, often in the context of homicides. This curricular unit provides an introduction to the practice of forensic anthropology. Through alternating lectures and laboratory classes, the course will cover topics such as skeletal biology, diseases and traumas that can be observed in bones, methods used by forensic anthropologists, and the ethical considerations that arise when working with human remains in a medicolegal and forensic context.

MetodologiaMethodologyIn this curricular unit, the Team-based learning (TBL) methodology is used, with tasks carried out in small groups, allowing the development of the ability to analyze and apply theoretical concepts. In practical classes, the student has prior access to the activities that will be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. Class session plans are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation, and later discussion of procedures and results.
