ApresentaçãoPresentationHistology and embryology are two important areas in science and health science teaching. They are two related sciences. Histology is the study of the microstructures of the human body and their functions; It is divided into general histology, which studies the cellular and extracellular matrix of the four basic types of tissue, and special histology that studies the microscopic anatomy of various organs. Embryology will explain prenatal organism development and is divided into general embryology that studies germ cell development, fertilization and early development of the human embryo, and special embryology that studies organ formation and malformation. In addition to lectures, the curricular unit includes laboratory practices, where morphology is studied in histological slides under optical microscope.

ProgramaProgrammeIntroduction to Embryology Embryology General. Gametogenesis, ovulation, fertilization, cleavage, morula stage, blastula stage, deployment. Bi-laminate and trilaminate germinal disc. The pre-embryonic, embryonic and fetal. Embryonic attachments. Teratology and description of the most common malformations. Embryology Special Muscoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive and urogenital system. Serous cavities, head and neck (including formation of glands), ear, eye, skin and appendages central nervous system (formation of the pineal gland), the peripheral nervous system (formation of the adrenal gland). Introduction to Histology Epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous tissue. Cardiovascular system, bone marrow, immune system, and lymphatic organs. Skin and appendages, digestive tract and accessory glands, respiratory, urinary system, male and female reproductive system endocrine glands, mammary gland, eye, and ear.

ObjectivosObjectives* Provide knowledge about the structure of tissues, organs and systems / systems at the level of microscopy, particularly optics but also electronics, as well as embryonic and postnatal development of the major organ systems. * Provide knowledge of the histophysiology to a better understanding of Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and other related matters. * Provide a Human Embryology Descriptive, integrating the concepts of anatomy and preparing for teaching of other curricular units. * Diagnose different paths through the tissues and organs of the human body and all of its structural components, and describe and conceptualize all the underlying histophysiology. * Anticipating what structures and processes underlying histophysiological that are most commonly subject to disease. * Know and describe the normal human embryological development, as well as know and realize that the most frequent anomalies and their consequences.

MetodologiaMethodologyInnovative methodologies supporting the teaching-learning process favour an active, integrated, and student-centred approach, linking knowledge of Histology, Embryology, and Histophysiology with the understanding of the structural and functional organization of the human body. Problem-based learning and applied cases make it possible to relate normal embryonic development to congenital anomalies, as well as to associate the microscopic structure of tissues and organs with their function and susceptibility to disease. The use of histological images, embryological diagrams, digital atlases, three-dimensional models, videos, simulations, and interactive resources supports the visualization of dynamic processes and microscopic structures. Guided analysis of histological preparations and clinical situations stimulates observation, accurate description, critical reasoning, and integration with Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pathology.
