ApresentaçãoPresentationThe UC Production Management aims at an efficient and effective management of the flow of information, materials and products in a business organization, with greater emphasis on industry. The field of action of this discipline is vast, being present in operations, logistics, purchasing management, innovation and development of new products, and mainly in the management of production lines, focusing on the production of new products from of production lines with a high automation weight. These production lines aggregate a multiplicity of systems, among which, inserted in the scope of automation and robotics, which lack an integrated management taking into account the objectives of the organization in which it operates, namely in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, associated with your operations.

ProgramaProgrammeCP 1. Definition and framework of production management, and typology of operations and processes. CP 2. Production planning and control: types of process and batch size. CP 3. Planning and control of the capacity to be installed. CP 4. Production optimization and simulation, using software tools ("SOLVER" Ms Excell, etc). CP 5. Stock and resource management (Enterprise Resource Planning). CP 6. Lean production and waste management in production. CP 7. Quality Management and Continuous Improvement. CP 8. Supply chain management. CP 9. Use of software to simulate the flow of materials and products using events discrete (e.g. Arena, Jaamsim). CP 10. Project management and development of new products. CP 11. Maintenance management and risk analysis. CP 12. Production indicators and cost control.

ObjectivosObjectivesLO 1. Approach to different forms of production management depending on volumes and size of production batches. LO 2. Prevalence of delivery times in relation to quantities. LO 3. Prevention of the most common waste. LO 4. Process improvement strategies, especially in unproductive times related to change of tools. LO 5. Optimization of product mix through application of automatic scheduling calculation linear, identifying evaluation, productivity indices and their general terms. LO 6. Technical capacity to forecast the necessary resources based on the effective utilization rate. LO 7. Distinction between cycle time and talktime estimate.

MetodologiaMethodologyThe course unit uses theoretical-practical teaching methodologies, emphasizing problem-solving, case studies, guided discussion, brainstorming, practical exercises using decision-support software (MS Excel/Solver) and production system simulation tools. The teaching-learning process is complemented by a group project and the critical analysis of a scientific paper, promoting the integrated application of the acquired knowledge.
