ApresentaçãoPresentationThis UC whose area of activity is in the construction of professional knowledge within the scope of Early Childhood Education. It aims to train students for their future professional activity. Provide students with diverse knowledge that allows the development of an integrated and interdisciplinary practice. Promote critical and reflective analysis skills that allow for constant evaluation and adaptation of your practice. Operationalize skills in the scientific and pedagogical-didactic domains. As well as promoting knowledge of methods, techniques and knowledge related to the educational process, the educational environment, collaborative work and educational research.

ProgramaProgrammeCurrent legislation on the context of daycare in the Portuguese educational system. Profile, skills and functions of the early childhood educator in a daycare context. Pedagogical action in daycare: caring and educating. Relationships and interactions - adult-child, between peers, parental involvement, interaction with the school community. Children's rights: protection; to play; participation; education. Observation: children, educational context and educational dynamics. Organization and dynamization of the educational environment: spaces, time, materials and group. Educational intention: (i) Observe, listen, record and document; (ii) Plan, act and evaluate; (iii) Communicate and articulate. Educational continuity and transitions. Educational experiences and projects in a daycare context. Other content to be addressed will arise from educational contexts and/or problems emerging from practices.

ObjectivosObjectivesCollaborate and act in compliance with the ideologies and values ¿¿of the cooperating institution. Create an environment of well-being and safety in order to continue the process of caring for and educating in the nursery. Build and implement proposals for curriculum development for the nursery, using active, participatory and playful methodologies. Plan and intervene in the educational environment, respecting the specificities of the context, the group of children and each child. Continuously and critically observe, evaluate and reflect on educational interventions, so that they are integrated, flexible and adjusted to the rhythms, preferences, needs and potential of each baby and child. Use educational research methods to identify, analyse, plan and intervene in issues arising from practice. Prepare an analytical and reflective report on educational practice in the nursery, using research, observation, recording, documentation and evaluation instruments.

MetodologiaMethodologyThis UC is based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as it is an educational methodology centered on the student. To solve problems arising from practice, conceptual, procedural, behavioral, research and intervention issues are addressed. Thus, it is realized through the planning of projects/activities in the context of daycare; in the critical analysis of the observed and experienced reality in the light of theory, joint reflections and practical examples addressed in class; and in moments of guidance for the dynamization and implementation of educational actions, as well as for the preparation of the internship report.
