Literary Meeting: The Life and Work of Aquilino Ribeiro

17 de fevereiro de 2025

The cultural impact of Aquilino Ribeiro and his relevance in the resistance to Salazarism

The project The Iberian Wolf: between myths and realities was coordinated by Professor Dulce Franco, in collaboration with the LUDUS - Higher Education Reading Club at IPLUSO. This initiative took place on January 16 with Aquilino Ribeiro Machado, the grandson of the writer Aquilino Ribeiro, who spoke to us about his grandfather’s legacy, particularly focusing on works like "When the Wolves Howl", which centres on the resistance to Salazarism.

The visit surprised attendees with a presentation that highlighted the literary legacy of his grandfather and the importance of preserving literature as a form of cultural identity, in which the wolf is always present. The presentation included never-before-heard stories about the life and work of the writer, engaging students, teachers, and the online audience, strengthening the bond between generations.

This session concluded with the presentation of a project carried out by students from the CTeSP - Children and Youth Support, under the coordination of Professor Sara Belo, connecting literature with expressions.
