New students are welcomed with music, shared experiences and a masterclass dedicated to teaching ethics across a range of placement settings
The School of Education of Lusofonia (ESEL) marked the start of the new academic year with a session dedicated to welcoming students, sharing experiences and reflecting on the challenges of future professional practice.
The session began with a welcome from the School’s management team and ESEL Programme Directors, followed by a musical performance led by Professor Pedro Nunes from ESEL-IPLUSO.
The event placed particular emphasis on new students, encouraging the exchange of experiences with student representatives, fellow students, representatives of ESEL’s governing bodies and the IPLUSO Students’ Association. This part of the session aimed to help newcomers feel closer to the academic community and provide an initial insight into the different experiences and perspectives within the institution.
The afternoon concluded with the masterclass “Teaching Ethics”, led by Professor José Brás from ESEL-IPLUSO. The session aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of ethics in professional practice and across different placement settings, ranging from nursery and pre-school education to the 1st and 2nd cycles of basic education, Child and Youth Protection Commissions (CPCJ), and leisure-time activities.
