During the event, held in Copenhagen, a comparative study on access to the teaching profession in Angola and Portugal was presented.
The 10th edition of the World Conference on Teaching and Education (WORLDCTE), held on 23 and 24 July 2026 in Copenhagen, brought together a Portuguese research group of teaching staff, representing Lusófona University and IPLUSO. The event brought together researchers from various countries to discuss innovation, quality and emerging challenges in the field of education.
Recognised for its broad thematic scope and diversity of international contributions, WORLDCTE provides a valuable platform for academic dialogue, the dissemination of research and the development of collaborative networks.
The group, comprising teaching staff Dulce Franco, Esmeralda Santo, Maria Neves Gonçalves from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (CeiED), Joana Quinta (Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Benguela) and Micaela Fonseca from the Digital Laboratories for Human Environments and Interactions (HEI-Lab), presented the paper entitled “Access to the Teaching Profession: Profiles of Students in Angola and Portugal”.
This study comparatively analyses the pathways, motivations and characteristics of students entering teacher training programmes for early childhood educators and teachers in the two countries, highlighting structural differences between the education systems and identifying relevant areas of convergence.
The research contributes to understanding how distinct sociocultural contexts shape access to the teaching profession and reinforces the need for training policies tailored to the specific realities of each country.
